TS-eCLOUD - infrastructure as a service

The TS-eCLOUD is a comprehensive infrastructure transformed into a SERVICE, i.e. servers, storage, backup, firewalls, development and application platform (e.g. OS, DB server) and software (mail server, ERP system, etc.). This SERVICE is provided via the Internet or other high-speed data networks. It is maintained and updated on a 24/7 basis by the company TECHNISERV IT, spol. s r.o.

Based on a professional design/analysis, we enable you to build a new infrastructure based on the TS-eCLOUD solution and migrate your “old” servers into a virtual environment, one which is clearly defined with a specific performance of infrastructure, including the necessary software, where you can continuously change the parameters, such as the number of virtual servers, disk capacity, number of users, etc., all pursuant to a single contract.

The technical solution TS-eCLOUD is offered in three forms:

  • IaaS – Infrastructure as a Service
  • SaaS – Software as a Service
  • IaaS and SaaS with an alternative solution – a combination of the above

BENEFITS OF THE TS-eCLOUD SOLUTION:

  • Zero or minor investment – there’s no need to purchase the infrastructure. The only thing requiring some investment cost when transitioning to TS-eCLOUD are client software licenses (if paid).
  • No periodical investment in infrastructure – with TS-eCLOUD, you won’t have to maintain the infrastructure; there’s no need to purchase and install new servers every so often, and so no need for any data migration. • No hidden costs – you only pay for a clearly defined spectrum of services pursuant to the contract

  • Lower total price compared to purchasing and maintaining the equipment yourself – including implementation of the SLA (Service Level Agreement), i.e. the guaranteed availability of services • Prompt implementation – some applications and infrastructure services in particular are exceptionally advantageous thanks to their prompt (immediate) implementation
  • No administration or maintenance – no need to look after the server part of the infrastructure; no need to deal with outages, patching, hacking, etc.
  • Free upgrade – if a new version of the software arrives (e.g. Microsoft Exchange Server), you do not have to backup, install, migrate, check or even purchase anything. Everything is included in the price of the service.
  • SLA – Service Level Agreement, which contractually guarantees the availability of services is often an unbelievable technical advantage. The existence of a SLA is the key precondition of a successful transition to a Cloud.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TS-eCLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE SOLUTION ARCHITECTURE

INFRASTRUCTURE LOCATION

The entire TS-eCLOUD infrastructure is located in the Housing Centre (HC) at Tra»ová 1, Brno. The facility is secured on a 24/7/365 basis using state-of-the-art equipment: 

  • on-site security guards, electronic security system, electronic access control and CCTV
  • uninterrupted electricity supply, constant temperature, optimal relative humidity and high-speed Internet connectivity
  • backup 230V power supply which can be doubled depending on the properties of the installed equipment

SOLUTION ARCHITECTURE

The solution meets all requirements for the maximum availability of applications and services used; it ensures the operation of systems within a virtual environment with high-level availability, realised on hardware infrastructure located in the Housing Centre. All equipment features monitoring instruments and integrated tools ensuring identification of any anomalies.

The infrastructure is modular; it can be extended as needed, no performance limitations apply.

The IT infrastructure consists of the following basic components:

  • High-performance units – servers designed to operate virtualization infrastructure. With regard to the maximum reliability of hardware resources, they feature a high level of redundancy of key elements; advanced technologies are implemented which ensure resistance to hardware errors such as RAID and ECC. 
  • Shared disk storage. Redundant disk subsystem accessible via a reliable SAN structure (Storage Area Network) designed according to the principle of eliminating SPoF (Single Point of Failure).
  • SAN infrastructure. This consists of two active elements which, thanks to the way they are connected, ensure the multiple accessibility of disk storage from virtualization servers even during the possible outage of any of the components of the communications channel.
  • Backup server. Hardware system for backup processes to which is connected external storage where backups of the operated systems are stored.
  • Backup storage. External storage for storing system backups in accordance with the retention policy
  • Network firewall, VPN concentrator. These elements ensure the “secured” connection of the server infrastructure to the Internet and its accessibility from the outside. The firewall ensures control of network communication and provides protection against potential attacks from the outside. The VPN concentrator functions ensure encrypted Site to Site connection or Road Warrior.
  • Virtualization layer. A “thin” software layer installed directly on the physical hardware of individual virtualization servers; this ensures the abstraction of physical hardware for the purposes of virtualization. The virtual environment exhibits unique properties:
    • independence of the installed virtual workstations with regard to the hardware platform (migration options)
    • redundancy ensures high level of resistance to service outages
    • prompt system restoration in the event of key hardware unit outage
    • immediate recording of current status and subsequent restoration of this status
    • dynamic allocation of hardware resources as needed
    • immediate installation of another virtual server
    • easy transition to a new hardware platform without complicated migration and reinstallation

The backup process is carried out by means of direct backups of individual virtual machines on a secondary backup storage, as well as to MT media which are then stored.

SOFTWARE LICENSING MODEL

The licensing model is based upon the SPLA solution from Microsoft, combined with licenses to other products which are not included in this programme. If a different type of SW is to be used (other than Microsoft’s SPLA), SW manufacturers and providers must be consulted to verify the options and the conditions of lease.
